Operational guidance

Lighting

Use even light. Avoid reflections on laminated IDs and vehicle documents. Move the light source or tilt the card slightly if glare appears.

Focus

Hold steady for 1-2 seconds. On mobile, tap the barcode area to refocus. On webcams, use 1080p where available and keep the barcode flat.

Resolution

PDF417 benefits from higher detail. Keep the barcode horizontal and close enough that individual rows are visible but not cropped.

Barcode types

Driver license mode restricts scanning to PDF417 for speed. Vehicle mode enables PDF417, QR, Data Matrix, and Aztec.
